Description

Presented is a spectacular Japanese mixed metal jewelry set.  This set is done
in the mixed metal tradition which, some would argue, was perfected in Japan.
The set is comprised of a bracelet and two pins.  One pin is in the form of a
fan, the other is in the shape of a diamond.  The bracelet has seven round
links.  The links have a black matte background into which the artist set
silver, gold, copper and perhaps bronze to form various scenes.  This same
technique is used on the pins as well, though they feature different scenes from
the bracelet.  The scenes depicted in the bracelet include: homes at the foot of
a mountain, presumably Mt. Fuji; cranes next to a full moon; grapes on the vine;
bamboo; and swallows or another small type of bird in flight.  The metals set
into the black background are primarily silver and gold.  Both pins close with
rollover clasps.
Each piece in this collection is stamped JAPAN.  These pieces were
undoubtedly produced between 1900 to the 1930s.  This is an excellent set for
the collector and it is in fine condition.  There is some loss of silver plating
to the setting of the bracelet but this is minor.  All of the individual links
on the bracelet and the two pins have a fantastic patina.  The silver has nicely
darkened with age, and these pieces should not be polished.  They have the
perfect look that the maker was intending. They can easily be worn.  There are
no chips, no cracks, no breaks, no repairs, and no problems of any kind.
The bracelet is 7 1/4 inches long. The pins are both 1 3/8 inches
wide.
