Vintage Nordic Finland doll.
One of a kind, rare doll created by the late Finnish artist Ella-Maija Anttila Laitasalo (1938 - 2003).
Born in Oulu, Finland, Ella-Maija attended the School of Art and Design in Helsinki. She became a painter and later started creating her own dolls. Her dolls have been featured, among other things, in the Amer Gallery in Helsinki and Hämeenlinna and Hyvinkää art museums.
This doll is uniquely sculpted and signed by the artist. B
eautifully hand-sewn clothing, painted facial features with glaze on face for shine, sculpted noses, nostrils and ears. Hooded eyelids. The face and neck appear to be made of craft pulp and hair made of flax. Body appear to be stuffed burlap and is mostly firm and not jointed. L
